Starting in 2025, large enterprises in Moldova will sign gas supply contracts exclusively on the open market.

By the end of this year, large enterprises in the Republic of Moldova can still conclude natural gas supply contracts at regulated prices. Starting in 2025, they will only be able to purchase natural gas from the open market, with the option to negotiate prices directly with suppliers or through authorized trading platforms.

The Ministry of Energy has published a list of large enterprises that must access the open market, except for those with active contracts with universal suppliers. This change supports the liberalization of the natural gas market and contributes to fair competition in the energy sector, aligning the Moldovan market with European Union requirements.

Until January 1, 2025, large enterprises can still conclude regulated supply contracts, while medium-sized enterprises may do so until January 1, 2027, through universal public service providers.

For natural gas transactions, BRM EST, a division of the Romanian Commodities Exchange, is the Trading Platform Operator and allows consumers access to the Natural Gas Ring on the Bilateral Contracts Market (OTC). Detailed information is available on the official platform at www.brmeastenergy.md.

Household consumers and public institutions have the option to choose between regulated market supply or open market supply. The state will continue to support universal suppliers to ensure stability and continuity of gas supplies for households and small businesses.
